Hanging of the Greens

Hanging of the greens

Join us for our traditional Hanging of the Greens Service!

The Hanging of the Greens is a cherished tradition in many Christian churches, marking the beginning of the Advent season. This special service involves the decoration of the church with various evergreen plants - artificial or real - symbolizing eternal life and the anticipation of Christ's birth. The service often includes readings from Scripture, hymns, and prayers that reflect themes of hope, preparation, and joy. Each element used in the decorations, such as wreaths, holly, and poinsettias, carries its own significance—representing aspects of the Christian faith like the eternal love of God or the joy and hope brought by Jesus' arrival. This communal event not only beautifies the church for the Advent season but also fosters a sense of unity and anticipation among congregants as they prepare their hearts and surroundings for the celebration of Christmas.

All are welcome to participate!
